Block Gambling Sites Virgin Media

Regardless of whether you're trying to help someone overcome a gambling addiction or are trying to ensure your children don't have access to gambling games, there are plenty of reasons to block gambling websites. A person using Internet Explorer doesn't need to buy special gambling software. You can block gambling sites by changing Internet Explorer settings.

Step 1

Go to your desktop and open Internet Explorer by double-clicking on it. If the program isn't on your desktop, find it by clicking on the “Start” menu on the bottom left of the screen. Scroll over “All Programs”; a menu in which “Internet Explorer” is located will appear. Click on “Internet Explorer.”

Step 2

On the top right of the Internet Explorer screen that opens, click on the item that says “Tools.” A menu will open. At the bottom of this list are the words “Internet Options.” Click on this, and that window will open.

Online Gaming Lag With Virgin Media. Posted 3rd Dec 2013. Hi guys I have the Virgin Optic fibre connection. Not sure what speed but usually very fast (around 20mbps to 50mbps), However, I've noticed there was a hell of a lot of 'jitter' when online gaming. Especially noticeable in Fifa. Okay, so I'm 13 and a girl and I'm a bit embarrassed to say this but like every teenager masturbation is pretty inevitable. I view porn on occasion (probably every 3 weeks to a month, maybe longer) and tonight when I wanted to view it on my iPad mini i get a message from Virgin Media saying Web Safe has blocked this site. I can't tell if my parents have blocked it on purpose, but right now the.

Step 3

Find the fourth tab that says “Content.” Click on it.

Step 4

At the top of the next window that opens, look for an icon and the words “Content Advisor.” There is a button in this box that reads “Enable.” Click on this button.

Step 5

See the tab that says “Ratings.” If this tab isn't yet selected, select it by clicking on it. Scroll down the list under ratings and click on the icon next to the words “Depiction of Gambling.”

Look for a slider bar, just underneath the list of items that can be blocked, for ”Adjust the Slider to Specify What Users Are Allowed to See.” The slider bar has three settings. To completely block gambling from your computer in all forms, slide the bar all the way to the left, where it reads “None.” This will block all references and forms of gambling from your computer.

Tip

  • If you want to only block sites on which gambling is done but not block news or art that has gambling as a subject, move the slider to the middle part of the slider bar, which is labeled as “Limited.”

Nothing is truly blocked online if you have a VPN or just add the word 'proxy' to the search term.
The UK ISP's simply stopped bothering contesting these blocking orders years ago so the copyright holders only have to trot up to court with the latest list and they're immediately granted.

Am quite shocked by how many websites have been blocked by Virgin, so much for Internet Freedom

Utterly meaningless and child's play to get round.
I don't know why they bother, tbh.

This si the tip of the iceberg - remember the Government is seriously considering bringing in age checks for 'adult material' websites. Websites that don't have age checks would then get blocked.

yet I'm on Virgin and I can still get to The Pirate Bay, which shows just how out of touch the BPI are and how pointless it is. If they invested more time into content creation and making systems better and more accessible to people, getting rid of silly restrictions on legally purchased content and different release dates per region etc then people would have less reason to go to these sites, however it is sometimes easier to get content via those sites because the official sites don't let you view the content in your region because of release dates, or charge silly amounts and put silly restrictions in place to get the content legally and then put it on your devices.

Thing is, the original pirate bay .org URL is up and working at the moment as well, so it makes all of this even more ridiculous.

I like that list, it's given me a couple of extra sites to try out that I'd never heard of before.

Not on Virgin it's not and they anti-piracy groups are only concentrating on the big ISPs, maybe you're not on Virgin or BT etc.

Opera has a built in VPN

Something that has been quite handy this past week, it has turned a slow work connection from being 'wanting to pull your own teeth slow' to 'wanting to punch the screen' slow.

I'm with talktalk and can access probably the biggest pirate site directly from it's main domain.
Regarding letters how is going work exactly am I going get letter for every episode I download of torrents sites ?
At worst people will just move to VPN's or downloading from sites like mega etc.

Probably more than that later on. Surely the entertainment industry can't have missed that soon the UK will have records of all the internet addresses people are visiting? How long before they get on 'the list' of organisations who get access to it?
While they won't be able to prove you downloaded anything from those sites by this alone, I'm sure the extortion letter they'll send to people will rake in the sort of money that would make other organised crime syndicates jealous.
